Think of all the times you were stuck in your project on some technical issue. You tried your friends and colleagues, but they couldn't help you. You went to Stackoverflow, but the answers there were out of date or not a complete solution. Sure, you could have your developers work on the problem for a couple of days or even a couple of weeks and they should eventually be able to solve the problem. But you know that if you could get hold of the right expert they will be able to solve your problem in an hour or two. Or at least point your developers in the right direction.
